How to Protect Against the Flu

– [Announcer] Health
Break is brought to you by Coliseum Health System. – Flu season in Georgia runs
from December into March. Dr. Jason Woods explains how we can best protect ourselves from the flu. – The number one way is to
get the flu shot every year. I think everybody older than six months is a candidate for getting a flu shot. There’s a different vaccine
actually every year. They base it on the prevalence
of the different strains from year to year, and they usually pick
the top three strains from the previous year. – [Narrator] The shot
is especially important for older adults and those with chronic health conditions. – Earlier the better. But to say there’s
actually a too late time, I don’t think that’s necessarily true. I think any time during
the season of that year it’s reasonable to go on and get it. I think you get some benefit from that. – To learn more or find a physician call Consult-A-Nurse at 478-746-4646. Or visit colisuemhealthsystem.com. I’m Beverley Herbert. Here’s to your health. – [Announcer] Health Break
